How did a bloke in shorts with a bee obsession become a voice in the rooms where biodiversity policy gets made?

❋ 1. THE BRIEF

Clancy Lester had the hard part already sorted.

He had a mission worth backing: get Australians to care about native bees, and get biodiversity onto the political agenda in a big way. He had an audience that genuinely loved him. He had prime-time television behind him, a documentary in production, and thousands of people reached through workshops.

What he did not have was a way to convert any of it. He was, in his own words, opportunity-rich and time-poor.

❋ 2. THE DIAGNOSIS

Underneath that sat a structural problem. One identity was trying to do every job at once.

BEE MAN the larrikin educator, Clancy Lester the policy advocate, and Bees 'n' Blossoms the business were all crammed into the same brand, speaking to schoolkids, councils, funders and politicians in the same breath. Schools and children loved it. Councils couldn’t gauge it. Politicians didn’t see the strategic value in collaborating.

Once that was clear, the real brief revealed itself: building a strategy that can turn visibility into influence, without losing the grassroots credibility that got him there in the first place. We called it the Bee-Line to Parliament.

❋ 3. THE THINKING

This was not a content problem. In fact, Clancy had that sorted. It just needed guidance, reorientation around key goals and retargeting the right people.

One identity became three, each with a job.

  • BEE MAN is the movement. Instagram, mass attention, the everyday Aussie native-bee or insect nerd who provokes and instigates. Its job is to bring people in.

  • Clancy Lester is the authority. LinkedIn, policy-facing, the builder and strategic advocate. Its job is to get invitations from decision makers.

  • Bees 'n' Blossoms is the business. Workshops, programs, partnerships, habitat. Its job is to deliver and to earn.

This strategic split is the single most valuable thing we did. Finally, each audience got a version of Clancy that made sense to them, was still a truthful depiction of him, and the burden of being all three brands in one freed up his time to finally claim his overabundance of opportunities.

❋ Expert Facilitation

Led by experienced guides who know how to hold space, encourage participation, and keep things moving with purpose.

❋ 4. GROWING A DOCUMENTARY

7Seasons is a 27-minute film made with Victorian First Nations collaborators, with a share of screening profits reinvested back to them. It could have been a launch. We treated it as infrastructure: the story engine that connects all three brands and travels between them.

For BEE MAN it is the cultural artefact of the mission.

For Clancy it is authority-building, because directing a youth-led First Nations documentary is a major credential.

For Bees 'n' Blossoms it is a partnership and revenue pipeline because decision-makers are often in the cinema watching it, or hearing about it from staff who went instead.

Underneath all of it, 26 weekly strategy meetings across six months. Roughly 20 hours of face-to-face strategic consultation. Across six months, we provided a weekly standing hour to slow down, stress test the next move, and make the decision properly. That reflexivity, deep thinking and professional sound-boarding led to the exponential growth our client enjoyed during the engagement.

❋ Collaborative Energy

Connection is a core part of the process. You’ll learn just as much from the group as from the content itself.

❋ A Supportive Space

Our events prioritize comfort, safety, and respect—so you can show up as you are and fully engage in the process.

Reconnect with your body and mind as you escape the noise of everyday life.
